In 2020, YouTube is quite popular for young adults. 81% of people between 15 – 25 years old in the U.S. use the network. Also, millennials prefer YouTube 2 to 1 over traditional television. YouTube is also popular amongst businesses. In fact, 62% of businesses use YouTube. About half of YouTube’s total number of users say that they visit the site daily.

To put into perspective how significant YouTube is in 2020, currently 73% of U.S. adults use YouTube. This is more than Facebook, which is 69% of U.S. adults. YouTube’s traffic is mainly generated in the U.S. However, it is also very popular in India and Japan.

From a marketing standpoint, influencers have become a significant part of digital marketing. There are 50 million creators on YouTube. A lot of content posted by creators are things such as brand deals and sponsored product videos. Influencers with 500,000+ followers charge on average $3,857 per video. YouTube actually provides a free space in Los Angeles for anyone with 10,000+ subscribers.

Technically, YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. Live stream is one of YouTube’s many features. The live stream of Coachella’s first weekend earned over 82 million live views. With this said, 20% of users will actually leave a video if it hasn’t hooked them in the first 10 seconds.

YouTube has continuously proved to us that visual appeals are the way to go in almost any standpoint. Ever since Google bought the network in 2006, it has skyrocketed into a sensational video sharing site. In 2019, YouTube revenue was at $15.1 billion, which was up 36% from 2018. YouTube mobile revenue also continues to climb year-over-year. Google is currently looking to YouTube to be its next driver of growth. The video sharing industry is growing faster than we ever imagined. With Snapchat evolving, and now TikTok becoming more and more popular, YouTube was truly the start of something so big, and continues to foster.
