Twitter is one of the most commonly used social media platforms, and for good reason. It acts as anything you want it to be—a news platform, a source of entertainment, or just a convenient way to interact with and keep up with friends. Many Twitter users choose to use the platform as a way to see what’s going on in the world, but also to have a few laughs or possibly win some giveaways. Currently, the most retweeted tweet on the platform is from a Japanese billionaire promising to give money away to 100 winners. Of course, people flew to retweet this tweet in hopes of being one of the lucky winners.

Overall, giveaways seem to rank as some of the most retweeted tweets on the site with other tweets from the same Japanese billionaire coming in on our list as some of the most popular tweets on the platform. The fast-food restaurant Wendy’s also receives a lot of engagement on Twitter. Wendy’s is known to be quite funny with their tweets and have branded their image around being the funniest restaurant on Twitter. However, not only are they funny, but they also like to participate in giveaways with their Twitter fan base, ultimately bringing in a lot of retweets.

One of the other most retweeted tweets of all time is a selfie of some of the most famous actors posted by the Ellen Show. Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Brad Pitt are just a few of the many celebrities in the famous selfie, making it one of the most popular images on the internet. Going along with the trend of celebrities blowing up on Twitter, One Direction fans get serious when it comes to the members of their beloved boy band. In a tweet dedicated to Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson wished the best for his band member. The tweet blew up and brought in over 2.6 million retweets, leading in the rankings as one of the most retweeted tweets of all time.

Other than giveaways and famous celebrities, former president Barack Obama has a very dedicated Twitter fan base. His most popular tweet, a Nelson Mandela quote, brought in over 1.6 million retweets, making it one of the most retweeted tweets of all time on the platform. As you can see from this list, there’s a wide range of tweets that made it to the top of the Twitter rankings.
