When I was younger I was always able to see mental images when I closed my eyes, after a while I couldnt sleep anymore because I would just see skeletons etc when trying to sleep (this was scary as an 8 year old). But I stupidly took too much and had a bit trip, so Id say I saw this for <30 minutes before things became too muchI didn't see much colour, only geometrical figures but I could definitely see something when I closed my eyes. I look at the flame (actually its a youtube video of a candle lol) for a while and when I close my eyes it seems theres an after image that fades almost instantly. When I come back to sleep, before jumping in my bed, a VERY vivid shape appeared in an instant, basically without any reason (visible with my eyes closed or open for 10-15 seconds): many coloured bubles rotating all together in a cylindrical shape. I can picture only simple things (looks like are the things I often use on daily training). :) Hey marko, i just wanted to say that, another exercise i found out, is describing a memory out loud, because your brain has the images stored, even if you dont see them, so you can also start describing a memory, Another exercise i found out is describing something (a character, a scene, an image, etc) That contains movement and sound, because your brain visualizes better something with movement and sound, But there are many ways of improving visualizizatiom, mine is, along with image streaming, i focus on an image, that contains movement, i describe that image with eyes open, describe it with eyes closed, as fast as i can, sometimes i will get a memory of the image (not the exact image), but i then focus on the memory of the image, like i said, your brain wotks better with the memory of something, its more connected with the pre frontal cortex, You can also Try watching a short video, and then close your eyes and try to describe it. If I keep looking into the darkness, after a few seconds another after image will appear, though this one has the colors inverted (only light/dark at this point) . Test both variations frequently. I have no other problems suffered no trauma it is just who i am and I am one of those who will never be able to visualise. I have also noticed sometimes when I closed my eyes after thinking about something that an image would pop up briefly but it had nothing to do with what I was thinking about. And then secondly there are the perfect clarity, full color, detail-better-than-real-life visualizations. Start maybe with 2-3 paragraphs a day until you get better. Im sure, youre here because you cant visualize. He wants to paint it for you but relies on your observations alone. Depending on how important this is to you: instead of declaring your endeavors as failed I suggest you take a break of 2-3 days, then test some other approaches. Take one detail of your vision and elobrate it. I can remember a face.. A character on a tv show.. It was even the wrong colour (meant to be purple) and only 1-2 cm in diameter but still a pleasant surprise because prior to that it has always (and still) been very dark colours. Keep retracing the shape with your mental pencil. It appears smaller, like at a greater distance compared to the observable shape. Playfulness Are there any small details on it? You just IMAGINE it with high enough level of detail. my memories are in blurry images that comes to my mind and changes to other images very fast, and i cant hold them for more than a fraction of a second. But yes, in my experience, the more you practice the faster you get better. That line is a little bit greenish, I can rotate any direction and move around but thats it. Most images are black and white and reversed (e.g. basically creating a future memory so that youre likey to act as youre used to do (in your mind). Now using that same example lets say it is a mug and you observe it with the handle to the right as you are looking straight on the mug. While in bed, but yet not asleep, Ive seen several clear visual images that come to me but they only last for a second or two. And even when its gone I feel like I have a better idea of its shape/size/orientation, as if I can look into the darkness but still remember where the image was (a bit hard to explain). Fantasy and science fiction stories work well because the author has to describe a lot of the scenes as they see them in their own minds. Marko, I have done these exercises in the past. At this point, the image was visible in detail (~60% detail) for: 3 seconds + 2 seconds slowly disolving (5 total seconds, after that nothing to see, all dark). Unwrinkle your brow. I started the visualization with the candle exercise and I can sustain the image, color, shape of the candle for a few seconds then it fades away. In my experience it helps to say out lout what you want to see (or what your already seeing) to give it stability and clarity. In your case (and this applies to probably thousands of other successful, happy people, too) writing is a perfectly effective substitute to get clarity, direction and drive in life. They only last a second or so, although one time a few months ago I had an image last five seconds. Ive been doing this for a week or so and Im finding all my after images to be all negative colour. It all happens in your head and you dont need to focus on projecting the image to a location. I hope it works.
