How to Get the Best Engagement on Each Social Media Site

Today, the top social media sites are Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok. Each one has different mediums to share content. Some consist of only videos or photos, while others are a mix of both. This is great for consumers, but can be challenging to manage as a business using social media platforms to market to their audience. Below you will find some tips and tricks on how to get the best engagement on each social media site.

Instagram started out as a photo only platform, but now they have expanded to include videos and other features such as stories, reels, and even livestreams. There are many different options of using Instagram’s features in your company’s social media strategy. One way to increase your engagement on Instagram is to be up-to-date with social media trends, challenges, and popular culture. This will make your company feel more relatable to your audience and could entice audience members to like your posts, leave comments, and even share with their family and friends. Another way to increase engagement is to host a giveaway of some sort. This could include gift cards, company merchandise, etc. Also, your company could post stories on Instagram that have things that audience members can interact with. This could include a this or that option, a poll, or even a comment box. All of these features easily allow followers to interact with your business or brand. Lastly, post when your audience is most active on Instagram. By posting feed posts, stories, videos, etc. while your followers are online will increase the chance of them interacting with your company.

Twitter is a mainly text-based social media platform. In recent years, they have expanded to include photos, videos, gifs, etc. along with other features such as polls. Visual elements in your tweets can help increase your engagement greatly. An article by SproutSocial says that if your tweet includes a GIF, it gets 55% more engagement. Twitter is also a great platform to join conversations about popular or trending topics. Your company should also interact with audience members’ tweets, which will help increase engagement on your Twitter page. Just like Instagram, Twitter’s poll feature is a great way to entice followers to interact with your brand.

Facebook was one of the first social media platforms and it has evolved a lot throughout its time online. Similarly to Instagram, you should post what your audience is interested in. Ensure you keep your text to a minimum in your posts, individuals do not want to read a lot while they are scrolling through their feed. You could even pose a question to your audience to start up a conversation in your comments. Also, ensure you are posting photos and videos of high quality. It is also reported by Hootsuite that Facebook posts that include photos or video have a higher engagement rate than those that do not. It is recommended that brands post product shots or fan photos to their Facebook page.  Just like other social media platforms, make your brand personable online. Facebook Live is a newer feature on the platform that has become highly popular for companies, brands, and other users. Live videos on Facebook also see the highest engagement, so hosting a live every so often can be very impactful to your social media strategy

TikTok is the newest social platform that has exploded into popularity in the last few years. It is also the most different platform than other platforms as the “For You Page” is the main source of media a consumer sees, which includes videos from many different creators, not just the ones that a user follows. TikTok also uses a specific algorithm that makes each user’s “For You Page” specific to their interests. One way to promote more engagement is to post frequently on TikTok. Be original and personable in your videos, which creates a human-like feel to your brand. TikTok also has a lot of challenges and trends that you can join! Join the conversation about a popular topic, create your own video doing a challenge, or even create your own challenge. You can also use your other social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter, to promote your TikTok videos as well.
