He is survived by his two sisters Linda Fox and Deborah Ackerman and children Nicole, Ira, and Joi Ackerman and grandchildren, Aniya, Delvon, Chelsea, Jayden, Envy, and Peter, his cousins Jamie and Judy Ackerman. He was also inducted into the Michigan PGA Hall of Fame in 2019. He was born in Rochester, NY to Robert and Mary Ackerman. Ackerman started out directing at the New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theatre. He understood the language of theater art and communicated it with such ease. He will be missed..
